Our 18 months contract for broadband (with phone line and tv package) will run out soon.
I'm looking at changing the plan. I don't want to change supplier at this stage. All I want is good broadband.
For some reason best deals include phone line and tv. I don't need these but it's not an issue having them.
The deal I want from existing supplier is only available to new customers.
I'm thinking of cancelling the contract completely when it expires. I suspect there would be some 30days notice period so I'd have to pay a full month at the new standard price. Which is sort if OK.
I'm then thinking of contacting them after everything stopped, after the 30 days notice (next day or so) and start a new contract at the offer price for new customers. Much better monthly rate plus initial connection fee. At that point I would be a new customer.
Maybe we'd have a week without internet connection. Maybe they need to send someone around to officially reconnect everything. Possibly get new equipment.
Does anyone know if this is possible? Has anyone done this?
I did contact the existing supplier to negotiate a new deal but it is too expensive . I looked at alternative suppliers and the broadband on offer is not comparable. And everything locks you into 18 months contracts.
I am half resigned to the new renegotiated deal but it's well over double the offer for new customers so, naturally, I want to try and save more if I can.
