Calculating net adjusted income

I wanted to work out my net adjusted income.

I have a base salary and make a pension contribution from it before tax. Do I deduct that contribution value in order to get my net adjusted income? I thought so but on reading the calculation advice I am not sure I do.

can anyone help?

I believe you don't deduct it if its taken as salary sacrifice.

Adjusted pay is to check if you breach taper. What are your earnings?

what are you trying to work out here and why?

@Weirdlynormal I am trying figure out if I breach the threshold for tax free childcare. I won’t this year due to reduced pay for mat leave but I also want to know if I can reduce my net adjusted income by making increased contributions to my pension before tax.

I earn above £100k plus bonus but if I up my pension contributions does that mitigate it?

I thought after I posted to search for previous threads on the topic. The responses seemed to suggest that pension contributions could be deducted but again posters reading the guidance and finding it unclear, as I did.

Yes occupational pension contributions can be deducted from your gross salary and bonus.

Yes you definitely can, and unless you are going to starve to death, you should. The marginal tax rate on that money can effectively leave you paying to work!
