2 Child Benefit payments within the month

Hi everyone
I'm currently claiming universal credit as a single parent to an 18-month-old. I am affected by the benefit cap due to my high rent, by £217.
In August, two child benefit payments (£145 each) fall within my assessment period. Should I expect my universal credit payment to be the same as usual in September, or £145 less?
Many thanks in advance.

I didn't think child benefit affected UC (other than to qualify for the child element), but I rarely work with families these days, so I could be wrong.

CB isn't included in the deductions for UC

Child benefit is included when calculating the benefit cap but I think it's averaged out. I had a cap for a while due to being signed off sick for a while before going on maternity and then coming back to work and straight onto furlough. I don't think it was ever affected by how much child benefit I'd actually got in the assessment period.

Why is capped because of high rent though? It's usually earnings based isn't it?

I too think it is averaged out but even if it was taken into account twice it surely wouldn't affect you as you would still be paid up to the benefit cap amount anyway so the amount you receive isn't going to change? Unless I'm misunderstanding.

Isn't child benefit only £87 for one child?

She must have more than 1 child

Looks like it. I was going by only mention of the 18 month old.

Sorry OP! Was just wondering if something had changed in my last ever month of receiving CB Grin

Sorry, yes I do have an 8 year old too!

I'm confusing myself by overthinking it. I think I'll ask via my journal. Thanks anyway everyone.
