Has anyone got a M&S More than Card

Whilst Xmas shopping last week I managed to get talked into opening a M&S account, initially I thought it was like a store points card, I didnt realise it was a credit card until I was filling the form out. Anyway, I opened it because I spent over £80.00 so could get 10% off with the card. I was very good and paid for the bill out of my own money rather than put it on the card but still got my 10% off. The card has come through today and I cant decide whether to keep it. I dont have a credit card. Im really good with money, have no debts and can budget well. So Im thinking of using the card to pay for everything I buy, food shop, etc, and then paying it off in full each money and getting those lovely M&S vouchers which the dangled in front of my nose. Is it really worth doing, plus if Im going to do this could I be with a better card.

I think the John Lewis Partnership card does better rates but obviously you need to be near them or Waitrose to benefit.
I've heard that you can do really well with the More Than voucher accumulation though pepsi, you might be on to something good there.

Amex have a very good deal too - cashback so you can spend it however you like. It's not accepted everywhere though so I have another card as well.

pepsi-I do that.
Pay off bill every month-dont forget as massive interest charges.
But do get loads of m and S vouchers-basically free.
Cant go wrong really.
Except I did once get a lecture from a spotty check out boy-"you shouldnt use this card because it has really high interest rates" Excuse me? did I ask for financial advice or did I ask you to scan my groceries? (didnt actually say that of course-just mumbled polite response )

I'll give it a go then, I always very dubious about these things but Im thinking of ways to make our money go further without much effort. It occured to me when I spent about £80.00 in there last week that if I had had one of these cards previously I might have £80.00 saved in vouchers which would have meant free Xmas shopping which is what Im interested in really, saving easily for Xmas without feeling the pinch. Im lucky as we are not skint, Im just tight.

Pepsi, you do know that there are some people who actually make money from their credit cards? Sounds like you might be organized enough to do this. We are making in excess of £150 per month. The Fool website tells you how. Just a thought!

crunchie · 25/11/2004 16:06

Any CC is good if you pay it off IN FULL each month. Provided you are good at that then there isn't a problem. Look for the best Cashback you can get

crunchie · 25/11/2004 16:07

janinlondon You would say that!! it is becasue of you I save about £60 a month on my mortgage too!!

Ahhh Crunchie - another convert to the temple of "They'd do it to me, I'll do it to them!"

wow, have never thought of it like that. we pay a £1000 credit card bill every month (pay it off in full) we put food & petrol plus some other stuff on it. I have a tesco card at moment so get tesco vouchers back. Would I be better off with a cash back card ?

SecondhandRose · 25/11/2004 16:32

I used M&S and Tesca Mastercard/Visa and just pay off at the end of the month. Worth it for all those points especially if you need to make a big purchase.
