Need to clear 2k om card 5 month deadline

I normally pay 100 pm off a credit card. Sometimes 150. We've recently had a shit time and had to use the card. So its crept up. Was 0 at NY
Fwiw we normally have 100pw for shopping, toiletries etc for 2 adults 1 teen 1 pre teen, 1 younger and 1 in nappies.
We do quite well and that incs everything plus top ups in week maybe another 50. One dc has allergies so special foods cost a bomb.
We have maybe 60 a week for fun money. This obviously dont go far but we have seasonal passes for local places and take a picnic. We buy the little ones ice cream out (elder ones rarely want to join us)
Now we ' shouldn't' have any more unexpected expenses so looking at ways to save to clear car fast! Short of staying in most of summer i have no idea.

What tips / ideas have u all managed to use.
I wfh and im pretty useless with any online stuff that I don't know so unless things like online surveys to earn extra i am stumped.

Also have 500 on PayPal that's been lowering gradually. But last month i stupidly forgot about it and had a £12 fee for missed payment.

Balance transfer to interest free then cut up the card when it arrives. Keep up payments at current rate and pay it off

Vinted. Facebook marketplace. Airbnb. Balance transfer to new credit card

No fun money. Sorted. Short term pain, long term gain. IMO

What's the reason for the 5 month deadline?

You could do a balance transfer and give yourself a bit of breathing room to clear the card without paying interest. It will be tough to keep your spending down over the summer without staying at home all the time, which would be a shame.

But with 4 DC, you're probably struggling a lot with increasing food prices and it's concerning that you've built up debt due to what sounds like normal living costs in just a few months? What were the 'shit time' expenses? If it was things like car repairs or white goods replacement, you need to try and build this into your budget. Have you tried to cut your other expenses like broadband and TV and other subscriptions? Are you sure about what you spend on food? Many people spend quite a bit more than they think, especially on top ups.

Have a look at:

I wouldn't bother with online surveys, you have to put in hours and hours to make a tiny amount, you'd be better looking to do something like baby sitting. What's your work situation? I know with 4 DC it's probably hard with childcare etc but can one of you work extra when the other looks after DC? Even a shift or two in a pub or restaurant in the evenings might make a huge difference to your finances.

Sorry when i say fun money that's for the kids i could prob lower that. We never go out as a couple or individually.

5 months because i want to be debt free in the NY.

5 months doesn't seem like eternity. I would cut any expenses like hair colour, nails (if you do any), buy cheaper toiletries, no new clothes for adults unless absolutely necessary. You can save a lot on groceries (although it gets harder every week) by batch cooking (even cook for 2-3 days, doesn't have to be bulk cooking for 2 weeks) and cooking from scratch. Less meat, less alcohol, cut by half fun money. Good luck and let us know how it goes x
