What costs/bills are you cutting to save money?

Trying to save money as everyone else is atm.
I haven’t got life insurance or mortgage cover but can’t afford to start paying for it now. Makes me wonder what other important things like life insurance, pensions, home insurance (not gym, private health care or tv subscriptions) people are now stopping in order to survive?

Of all the things to stop it won’t be any insurances or important things. My first thing to cut would be tv channels and reduce my phone bill, can’t cut broadband as dh works from home. We could get rid of one car I suppose we would do that first too. MAYBE we would reduce pension contributions if absolutely necessary but I’m guessing my dh would be against that!!

Downgrade your phone monthly charge of you regularly stay under your data limit .
If you shop branded items , go to supermarket brands , if already on them , try basic range.
Stop takeaways.
Stop buying new clothes.
Stop buying ready meals
Don't buy alcohol.
Walk instead of drive for short journeys.
Have longer times between hair appointments.
Learn to do your own nails / colour your hair / beauty treatments.
Don't buy coffee when on way to work / lunchtime
Take a packed lunch to work.
Cook from scratch.

Very small in the grand scheme of things but I managed to get Plusnet to price match a like for like deal I’d seen on broadband etc on Nowtv saving us £120 a year. Worth having a haggle if you’re coming to the end of a contract like we were.

Here's my list:

Less unnecessary driving plus I said goodbye to fast lane on the motorway (sadly)
No takeaways, coffees out etc.
I do my own nails at home
Less compulsive spending (I visit shopping centre only when I have to. Before, I used to just walk around, have a look and buy some stuff I fancied)
Meal planning, cooking at home (no ready meals)
Less alcohol and sweets
Less meat, I also try to buy meat on offers and freeze it
I do my workouts at home, no gym membership
Tend to buy cheaper toiletries (I wouldn't spend £10 on shower gel etc.)
Buy in Lidl

My car has an mpg calculator. SO I challenge myself to keep it within limits.
We have a fuel card (DH's business) so we know on a Friday if the price of fuel will go up or down on Monday morning and fill up accordingly. It has gone down the last 3 weeks, so now we are paying around £1.83/ltr for diesel. Interesting to note that the pump price has remained at 197.9 throughout.
We also bought and installed one of these to go with our solar
www.heatershop.co.uk/solar-iboost-solar-immersion-controller
Means we have not turned the Rayburn on for hot water since we installed it, our hot water is solely powered by sunshine rather than oil.
I'm cooking on electricity while the sun shines (free with the solar). Ditto washing machine, dishwasher etc are only on in sunlight hours.

I would never stop house insurance, way too risky. Life insurance maybe, I don't have any anyway but my DH does. I'd be very reluctant to reduce pension contributions, I think they're too low as it is.

There was a similar thread recently where a lot of posters said they had stopped their pet insurance.

I’ve turned off the storage cooker, stopped making unnecessary car trips, no ready meals, less alcohol, stopping some tv subscriptions, moved to a sim only phone package. Oh and now dying my own hair.

@shivawn Ooh, I would never do it. Recently had to pay £500 for my cat's tooth to be pulled out. I only had to cover £65 excess fee and rest was refunded to me through insurance.
