DC University fund

Hiya everyone! Do you have a figure you work to for your DC's university pot? Or do you just put a set amount in each month? I don't know how much I should be aiming to save. We have about 10 years to save, so keen to start but don't know where or how to!

There are a few courses where it's difficult to work at the same time as study but for the vast majority of students there is no reason why they can't work. If they really can't work during term time then the holidays are really long so they should have plenty of time to save then.

Accommodation costs vary a lot so you can keep costs down with a bit of research.

We don't save for uni. We don't have it to spare. Our children can either attend one of the 4 local universities and live at home for free, or take on additional borrowing to fund accomodation at an "away" uni. Or they may choose not to go to uni.

Not saving anything as we would have paid mortgage off just before then and would rather get that out the way then we’ll have more disposable income available. We took out a 20 year mortgage 3 years before DS was born so timing is fortuitous
