Gift into my single or joint account?

I'm anticipating what is likely to be quite a large cash gift from a family member, amount not specified. They have asked for my bank details and are giving a sense they would prefer my single account rather than the joint account I share with my husband. The money would be put straight into our mortgage, depending on the amount. Am I right in thinking that it doesn't really matter which account it goes into as it's joint marital assets and in the event of a later separation (which is absolutely not on the horizon) my husband would have equal claim regardless of which account it was deposited in? Thanks in advance

If it’s a very large cash gift - there may be tax implications. You may ask that the gift be paid into your account and then seek financial advice before paying the mortgage off.

Thanks, as far as I can tell because it's coming from overseas there are no potential inheritance tax implications for me or the giver and tax does not seem to be payable on cash gifts, only on any interest generated

Is it so large you might want to ring fence it? If you can?

I think it might be very large. I will look into ring-fencing thank you as I'm not familiar with that
