Anyone with a MegaFlow tank who can answer my question?

We've had a Mega Flow tank that works alongside combi boiler for the last 7 years. It's attached to a timer that also does the heating. I've always had it set to heat the water twice a day but I'm wondering if that's the most cost effective solution? Gas engineer told me it was cheaper to have it on all the time but that doesn't sound right to me. Obviously with gas bills through the roof I'm looking for the cheapest solution.

I have switched to only heating water once a day for 1 hour. I only need hot water for washing anything that doesn't go in the dishwasher as my shower is electric and my appliances are cold fill.

Thanks for replying. That would seem to contradict the advice I was given, though it makes more sense to me. Anyone else?

I dont see how it can be cheaper to have it on all the time. Depending on the insulation then it could be like a kettle repeatedly reboiling to get back up to temperature.
