£150 Disability Payment. Is it one per household or one per claimant?

I claim PIP for my own disability but I also have a DC who is entitled to child DLA. I’ve noticed the online information mentions the £150 payment is available to those claiming child DLA.

Is this likely to mean DS also gets a payment or is it likely we get one payment per household?

I assumed it was per household but it does make it seem like it’s the individual. I wouldn’t count on it until it’s in the bank though!

I understand it per claimant. The logistics of working individual households would be a nightmare. Some household could get upto £1500.

Pip/ dla is to cover the additional costs of having a disability.

Babyroobs · 20/06/2022 17:30

Per claimant.

I understand that @Hoosemover but DS doesn’t cost us any extra in terms of his equipment using water/electricity/heating whereas DH does so I didn’t even consider DS would also qualify when DH would get a payment anyway. That’s why I said I wasn’t counting on the payment until it’s in the bank.

Good for you. There are lots of families with disabled children that needs the money for foods, clothing and fuel.

You come off as lacking empathy for others.

If you don’t think you need the money there are plenty of Disability charities that would find the money useful.

MyVoiceCounts · 21/06/2022 18:03

FFS I simply meant that it will be amazing to get it, not that we didn’t need it being as -due to my own chronic health conditions, being a carer to my Disabled DC and having a DH with a life limiting condition -I am only able to work very part time.
Simply that I never assumed the Gov would be so generous when we are used to being given the bear minimum to survive on.

Have a word with yourself @Hoosemover there is no need to attack me for the perfectly innocent comment that I didn’t consider DS would qualify when he doesn’t use extra equipment.

I am sorry… but it just came across as “ my kid does have any costs therefore no other kids needs it “

Butterfly44 · 21/06/2022 18:37

Is it something you have to apply for or automatic for the claimant?

VanillaIce1 · 21/06/2022 18:42

I'm not sure it would work out around £450 for us so fingers crossed!

Anotherdayanotherdisappointment · 21/06/2022 18:59

Does it depend on low/middle/high rate or just anyone that receives DLA?

VanillaIce1 · 21/06/2022 20:56

@Anotherdayanotherdisappointment I think it doesn't matter

LilacPoppy · 23/06/2022 16:09

It’s per claimant any rate of dla or pip. UC is also per claimant if it’s not a joint claim for example an adult living in the household with their own UC claim separate from their parents.

GLG123 · 27/09/2022 08:06

I claim pip for myself and dla for 2 children , got £150 colp today so I’m assuming you only get 1 xx

No, it really didn’t.

not necessarily. The payments are all being done separately and not all payments are going out today. I claim pIP and have had nothing so far, so maybe just wait and see.

LilacPoppy · 27/09/2022 09:30

It's definitely per claimant the government have been very clear I don't understand why people are guessing . Just read the hub. Website.

Per claimant. Two payments of £150 received today. One for my son who is in PIP and one for my other son who is on DLA
