Money transfers to my account

How to prevent someone transferring money onto my bank account?
Is that even possible?
I do know them, but not sure about their back details, so can't send it back.
And it could be an ongoing thing.

Pass on to a charity if you don't want or need the money.

I would have a word with your bank. They should be able to reverse the transaction and send it back, you could claim not to recognise the sender.

However, this potentially sounds like someone is harassing you? If so, I would talk to your bank about switching to a new account number if that will prevent them from being able to transfer money to you.

You could contact the bank and ask them to inhibit your account for credits. However this would be all credits and likely to trigger some kind of fraud review, depending on the details as it would be an unusual request...i wouldn't recommend it.

You can't block credits from one individual.

You could close your account and not tell the person your new account details if drastic action is needed.

Thank you for your messages.
I don't want their money, and am inclined to talk to them again.
(It is only a small amount, nothing major).
It does feel like harassment , because it feels like I can't do much about it, neither can the bank.

I would close the account or if thats too much redirect the payments into a separate account and let it build up, if you see them can you give them the cash back or a cheque

Just let the sender know that it's pointless them sending the money to you because you are donating it straight to charity.

Why can the bank not do anything? If you tell them the money has been paid into your account in error, they should reverse the transaction.
