Universal credit help

I'm new to universal credit and want to check if my understanding is right?

Me and dh both get paid monthly once each per assessment period. The last assessment dh wages weren't included and will be in the current assessment period along with this months wages. UC paid double what we would usually get for the last assessment period as no earnings for dh.

Am I right I'm thinking that next month we won't get anything due to 3 wages showing instead of 2 and our double payment covers both assessment periods? And that the following period will go back to normal as it will show 2 wages again.

That sounds right but if you both get paid monthly why weren't his wages included in the last assessment period? And twice in this one?

If you get paid on the same day of the month each month there should only be one payment (each) in each assessment period.

And companies have been told to report earnings on the day they would usually be paid even if you actually get paid much earlier like a lot of place do at Xmas (so if you usually get paid on the 28th but get paid on the 22nd in Dec they'll still report to HMRC as pay going through on the 28th)

Our assessment period ends on the 26th and dh is usually paid on the 26th with money in the bank in the morning For April it got paid late so it wasn't put through until the afternoon on the 26th (when wages went into bank) but apparently it wasn't reported until 27th.

Ah that's really crap of them. I'm not sure what, if anything, you can do about that. Doesn't help in the short term but it should almost balance out over the few months.

May be worth mentioning it to UC and seeing if they've got any suggestions or if there's some info you can pass on to work about the importance of reporting to HMRC on time.

I was very careful to make sure my assessment period wasn't anywhere near pay day. And then changed jobs - best laid plans and all that 🙄
