Pip Advice

I have posted previously about my Pip queries and have had some fantastic advice, so I hope no one minds me asking another question. My dhs pip for mh issues is currently being reviewed (I am now his full time carer and deal with all his benefits). It was originally granted in August 2019 for 2 and a half years. It then got extended for another year without any paper review during lockdown. I was therefore under the impression that it wouldn't be reviewed till November 2022. However, we received the dreaded brown envelope in January and had to submit everything by January 27th, which we duly did. I telephoned in March to see how things were going and was told it could be 14 weeks from receipt of the form before they even looked at it or that it could even go right up to November as I'd previously thought, as there is such a backlog (we are in Chorley/Preston area). I know it's just a waiting game and that we are extremely fortunate that we continue to receive payments whilst awaiting a decision. I appreciate I am racing ahead of myself, but if it was awarded again, what date would it be awarded from? Would it be from 27th January or would it be from the date they actually make the decision e.g. If they only get around to looking at it in July, would it be awarded from then or from 27th January when we had to return the forms by? Many thanks for any advice.

I think they'd back date from when the received it. If my memory serves me correctly from when my son was awarded but it wasn't pip then but I think the same still applies.

Thanks for the reply. My worry is that, if we are lucky enough to get it granted again but only for a short time period, we'll be faced with having to reapply all over again very soon.

Just a quick update for anyone applying for pip. My dh got granted it yesterday based on the review form, no interview needed thank goodness. He's got standard rate, 11 points awarded, for 3 years. We returned the forms at the end of January and it was awarded from 21st April. Even though it said 3 years they stated it may be looked at again after 2 but not before then unless we notify them of a change in circumstances. Thanks for the advice I've received on the numerous threads I've posted with pip queries and good luck to anyone else applying for pip.
