I'm a single working full time mum. Have a private rent and no maintenance from father for last 2 years with 14 yr old dd.

I became I'm arrears with my electricity and others after I took on all my ex husbands joint utilities and rent. He left without contact details leaving me responsible.

For the last 2 years I have been trying to reduce the debts which has been difficult, I'm now only 2000 in debt. Electricity has gone up.. I will never get out of debt, can't provide for my dd...

Why did you do that if the accounts were in his name? You weren't legally responsible so you should have told them he no longer lived there and you didn't know where he was.

If you're renting and have no assets or spare money after all your rent, bills and other essential living costs are paid, you can get the debts written off.

But you first need to put together a sustainable budget, you shouldn't be scrimping on essentials like food, heating, essential clothes or other basics to pay back debt, especially other people's.

Have a look at www.moneysavingexpert.com/budgeting-debt-help/ and do everything that's relevant.

If the bills were in his name why did you pay them?

Are you claiming all you’re entitled to? Can you contact stepchange or CAP and get advice on your debts? They should be able to help and get payments to a manageable level.

Also contact your dd school or your gp for a food bank referral.

Have a look at Citizens Advice’s site for guidance OP.
