Starting matched betting

Hi, this weekend I plan to finally start matched betting . I've spent the last year if not longer flirting with the idea and being too scared to start.

I will only start with say £20-£30 - does this sound do able.

If I only start with that how long will it take to be at a point of being able to withdraw any cash? (planning on doing it most days)

Realistically I could do with making around £400 that I can withdraw out without needing to find money for the following month.

Thoughts?

You'll need more like £100 to start as the cost of laying bets is usually higher than placing them. It will be a while before you can take out any profit.
I made over £30k in 2 years, but I was mostly doing casino stuff after a while. The first 5k or so was from actual matched betting, but it does require you keep a float of money otherwise you can only do a fee bets a day and it would take ages to make decent money.
Check out Team Profit Facebook page for useful tips. I think it's harder now than when I did it, but still some money to be made. I gave up when I got gubbed by all the sports bookies and the casino offers got shit. It did get us through a very tough few years though!

Oldlearner · 08/04/2022 11:06

Thanks @RagzRebooted how much should I be looking to keep floating?
I am brand new to betting completely so was hoping to keep the initial output low but I can go to £100 if needed.

From your experience if I start with £100 and keep how much needed to float how soon will I likely be able to withdraw.

I'm just trying to understand that part or how/when money is made.
I will have a look at that FB page too.

I recommend signing up to odds monkey or team profit and having a good read through all their intro bits. It will answer all your questions. It is not something to go into without doing a lot of research.

RagzRebooted · 08/04/2022 11:20

I can't tell you how soon you can make money because it depends on too many things. If, for example you did 2 bets a day (max you could manage on £100 float) and made £5-10 a day then you'd have made £150-200 in a month.

Oddsmonkey used to have a step by step to your first £500, that would be a good place to start.

IsDaveThere · 08/04/2022 22:15

I started with £100, which was enough, but I made about 3-4K before I withdrew anything. If you withdraw too soon, you won't have enough money available in your exchange account to cover all the bets you will be placing.

mrselizabethdarcy · 08/04/2022 22:18

I also recommend team profit. I started with £100 and made about £2000.

I wouldn't start this weekend unless you have a big bank and a lot of patience. It's the grand national tomorrow, the biggest day in horse racing and the online bookies will be hammered, prices will be rapidly flickering around and you may get delays on the account opening process. If you do it, start Sunday.

I did it until a couple of yeara ago. Back then you could do the welcome offers in about 4 weeks with a starting pot of about £100 and make about 1k profit doing the straight forward offers. With £30 it will probably take about 6 weeks maybe.

You need to be able to track your profits and balance, preferably have a seperate bank account and be very meticulous. Plus have all your personal and address verification to hand.

Reloads, which is what you do when you have done the welcome offers are a bit more hit and miss.

And you need time to do it when you can absolutely concentrate without interruptions. Definitely join one of the mbing sites and follow it for a few weeks and make sure you understand the process.

discodannie · 08/04/2022 22:39

I started with a tenner about 5 years ago but the offered were much better. I made around 70k but have mostly stopped now, will have a dabble tomorrow with the national.

I think you'd need around 100 to cover lay bets, slow and steady to start with and make sure you really understand what youre doing

I used Profit accumulator but odds monkey are decent too. It'll go quieter over the summer with no football but at least the World Cup is this year, the last one was a goldmine!

ShanghaiDiva · 08/04/2022 22:43

Agree with pp, don’t start tomorrow as it is going to be an incredibly busy day for the bookies.
I used team profit: instructions and videos are easy to follow.

I think the first time I placed a bet it took me about 15 mins as I kept checking and rechecking that I had done it correctly. However, after a while you know what type of offers will come up and it takes just a few minutes to place your bets. I generally just do football, unless it’s a big event like Cheltenham or grand national as there are always good offers/free bets.
I usually have a float of around £450.

ShanghaiDiva · 08/04/2022 22:50

www.teamprofit.com/
Explains everything.
I think they are now part of profit accumulator and recommend you sign up to a monthly service for extra support etc. However, it is possible to do it all yourself. Team profit has a calculator and for more complicated bets eg each way, odds monkey has a calculator so you don’t need to use profit accumulator.

Oldlearner · 08/04/2022 23:03

Thanks everyone, hadn't actually realised it was grand national tomorrow, i will wait a few days.
Ive spent the last few days on team profit watching the tutorial vids etc.

I will start with £100 and hopefully wont to long to make enough profit i can withdraw

I started a year ago & have made around 4k, and that's doing it very haphazardly, some weeks an hour every day (usually a couple of hours on Saturdays) other weeks nothing at all.
I have a sub with Profit Accumulator & use Betfair as my exchange. I also do some casino offers & use Team Profit for that.
My advice would be -
Check twice, do once - you will make qualifying losses on most bets but will only lose money if you make mistakes, and possibly when you get into the more involved bets such as 2ups & extra places which don't guarantee a win. Don't go onto these until you're really confident & have a reasonable bank roll.
Don't attempt anything unless you've watched /read the relevant guide and are sure you understand.
Keep a spreadsheet and/or use a note book to keep track. I use the profit tracker on PA but also keep written notes so i don't miss any free bets/spins & I'm sure what/where my profits are.
Both PA & TP have good Facebook groups which are well worth joining, you'll find lots of help & support there.
And if anything looks to good to be true it probably is! That's where check & check again comes in, and if in doubt, ask.

Libertybear80 · 09/04/2022 01:21

Personally because the bookies will get onto you quickly I would go for it as much as you can with the most money before you get gubbed. I made £8k in a year but I have a full on job and found casino offers easier and quicker. I'm gubbed by so many now I can't be bothered with it.

navydear · 09/04/2022 01:38

Can anyone explain to me what matched betting is and how you make Money off it please??

ShanghaiDiva · 09/04/2022 08:10

The team profit website explains everything really clearly so I would start there and then post any specific queries that you have.
KevinDeFootball · 06/07/2022 14:20

Even if there is a huge variety of betting sites, not all of them can be regarded as trustworthy and entirely secure. Even yet, it is interesting because many bookmakers now either reduce the odds or place restrictions on your account. Fortunately, I came across this betonline, and now I'm among the first to learn about sports news, get bonuses for new deposits, and place bets at the best odds. You ought to visit and take a look, in my opinion.
