Working 2 days a week?

I'm a single mum currently living with my parents - I have 2 children one aged 5 and the youngest is 6 months.
I separated from my partner late last year so have claimed UC for the past 2 months as I was a SAHM.
I've been offered a job in a cafe 2 days a week which adds up to 14 hours a week at national living wage. I would be working Friday and Sunday. EX dp said he would have kids on Fridays and either my parents or him on Sundays.
Should I go for it, and would I be better off or would some of my UC be docked?
I want to have some independence but then again I don't want to miss time especially with my eldest who is obv only home on evenings and weekends.
Anyone else been in a similar position? Thank you xx

Go for it. Like you say it will be good for you to have some independence again.

Yes, take the job. You will see your 5 year old every other evening and all day Saturday.

You will be much better off. As you do not claim the rent element of UC you can earn up to £553 a month in wages without it affecting your Uc at all.

Sorry I should have added - if you earn over £553 then each pound you earn over this will reduce your Uc by 55p.
