PIP and special diets

Please can anyone help me with this? Following a special diet comes under taking food / preparing food with PIP right?

Rather than Therapy?

I would say it comes under the eating and drinking/ maintaining nutrition descriptor?
Food preparation descriptor is more about ability to prepare a meal, being able to chop vegetables, hold a heavy pan of water, safety issues etc.

If certain special items are on prescription for example gluten free products or nutritional supplements or special feed through a peg feed or something then it could come under the medications/ therapies descriptor.

Cross-refer to be on the safe side.

I do this with DSS's PIP forms.

So if in doubt, for Q.X I would write at the end, 'Please also see answer to Q.Y for further relevant information'.

He has a lot of issues around food and violent behaviour that don't neatly fit into boxes.

OK, it's the review form and not much room to write details on specific areas but there is a section at the end to say more about your conditions so I guess I'll write it there. Thanks.

It's confusing because the claim is from back in 2014 and then it seems special diets weren't considered under nutrition- that is what the medical report says anyway.

Btw, I rely a lot on advice that available on the Benefits and Work website. You can pay for membership but tbh I've only ever used the (copious) free advice that's available on there.

It tends to be updated regularly, so it's very helpful (IMO).

Best of luck - PIP is such a dreadful process to have to go through.

In the box on the review form just type "See additional point 1" and then attach an A4 sheet of paper (clearly labelled as Point 1) with as much information as you need to enter.

Remember be factual and don't waffle.
