My daughter is 16 she receives DLA but its in the process of being transferred over to the scottish government so will soon be CDP. I am her appointee with DLA but because its being changed over we have to have a meeting to discuss if she is capable to handle her own finances. Im so worried, they have said they will ask both of us question and determine whether or not she will recieve the CDP. I give her the money now it goes in my bank monthly and I seperate it and give her it weekly, pay her phone bill gym membership etc, if I didnt these wouldnt get paid. I know for a fact if she was to get it in 1 payment it would be spent in a matter of days then it would fall back on me to fund her which I really cant afford to do.

Does anyone know what questions theyll ask to base their decision on?

DD transferred from DLA to PIP so similar - the lady came to our home and just chatted with us generally and asked her about school and her pets and general stuff and really put her at ease, then just asked if she was happy for mum to continue organising her money for her and that was basically that ! DD was allowed to go back to her TV and we continued in more detail without her.

Although I’d opened a new bank account for her, they offered to keep it all going in my account if that was easier, which I did. The whole visit lasted less than half an hour and was absolutely fine Smile

I'm in a similar situation with ds1 who turns 16 in july. We had the form where we had to say if he wanted me to carry on managing his money. I talked to ds and he said he wanted me to carry on doing it. So I wrote that on the form. I hope that will be ok as he is academically probably more able than me so in theory could do it himself. He would rather not though. Tbh I am doubtful that he will get pip at all as he currently only gets lower rate care dla, although he got an 8 year award when I first applied.
