Good morning
I'm just looking for some advice, I hope someone can help. About 6 months ago me and my ex split up, he moved out etc and I applied for universal credit. The thing is he still has some accounts registered at my address, credit cards etc, all household bills are in my name and paid by me. He is a long distance lorry driver so sleeps in his lorry 5 days a week and the other 2 he stays at his sisters house. Could I get into trouble for this if dwp found out? He pays maintenance every week they would see that going in my bank. Im just abit worried they will think he still lives here, apart from this there is nothing else that ties us together

You need to get him to de-register on the electoral roll for your house and re-register at his sisters, and change his details for his credit accounts to reflect this. On paper, it looks like he still lives with you.

Okay thankyou. I will get him to sort it out

My ex after several years of being separated has yet to change his address on his bank account, driving licence and some bills. I've no control over this. I did take him off the electoral role. And have claimed single person deduction on council tax and claim some UC top ups with no difficulties.

@unicornsarereal72 thanks for the info. This is my take on it also, I have dealt with the things I can but I can't force him to change everything over. I still get post here for the old occupier so surely they cant say I'm in a relationship with them aswell. It's going to jail that worries me but surely for it to get that far they would have to prove I live with him which they can't because I don't

You would not go to jail for this. The only problem I see is that he does not probably have bills registered anywhere in his own name as he lives with his mum. Does he have car insurance etc at his mums address, does most of his post go there, what address would his work have down for him.

@Babyroobs what I mean is I could possibly go to jail if they think im commiting benefit fraud? But like say surely they would have to prove we were together for it too go that far. I honestly couldnt tell you where his car insurance is addressed or what address his work has. I just know his bank and credit cards are registered to my address there might be more

I have been asked to send statements for a universal credit compliance check. My issue is on my bank statements it shows transfers from my mother. These are from a building society account she has and only show the ref...no name. Is this going to be an issue?
