Advice needed Tesco exchange policy?

Dh bought an ipod 10 months ago, within a week it was faulty and tesco exchanged it for another.

Now this one has developed a fault, we paid cash and have a receipt will they refund? also does anyone know if they will refund the amount we paid? as they are worth quite a bit less now

Legally I think they only have to get it repaired, or if it can't be repaired then replaced.

You are only entitled to a refund if the item is non repairable and cannot be replaced with the same model.

I doubt they would refund you tbh, and they certainly are under no obligation to.

I think you could quite reasonably say an ipod should work for more than 10 months! Demand a refund under the Sale of Goods Act - goods have to be as described and fit for the purpose for which they are sold. And free of faults unless they were drawn to your attention when you bought. Legally the amount you should be repaid is the full amount. they can offer a repair but you don't have to take it - it's your choice of repair, if offered, or refund.

If they quibble, tell them you are contacting Trading Standards, the council dept. that handles Sale of Goods etc. etc.

actually you are only entitle to a refund within reasonable time and i think tesco could quite easily argue that 10 months is beyond reasonable time

i dont think you have any legal right at all to have a full refund 10 months later, howvere having it repaired or them offereing a replacement would be quite acceptable legally

nannyL, depends on the nature of the goods - an Ipod, a TV or washing machine should work for more than 10 months. But if you complain about a cosmetic fault, a scratch on the cover, say, after 10 months, I think you'd be hard pressed to claim. I've suggested OP contacts Trading Standards to clarify.
