Can suppliers charge more than the energy price cap per kwh?

I know there have been a lot of threads about energy prices, but I haven’t been able to find the answer to this specifically, in relation to price per kwh.

The way I understand it, the price cap is the max that can be charged per kwh and per day for the standing charge?

I’ve attached the cap prices I have been able to find, though these are ‘average’ price cap rates - do we have actual max rates available? My supplier’s new pricing is (a lot) higher than this.

Have I completely misunderstood?

Can suppliers charge more than the energy price cap per kwh?

Non fixed contract rates can only be as high as the price cap. Fixed price can be anything they want to charge.

Oh thank you, such a simple explanation.

Price cap only refers to the maximum they can charge on the standard variable rate tariffs. Fixed rates can be any amount they want to charge
