Balance transfer question

I opened a new credit card- clearly didn't read the t&c as I thought it was all 0% for three years...turns out it's only my balance transfer that is 0% for so long. Thinking all spends were 0%, I have since racked up an extra 1k from a few key purchases on the card, and will be charged interest from next month. I want to balance transfer this whole amount to another 0% card which I have been approved for.

Question is, can I do another balance transfer so soon- I opened this card a few weeks ago. Do most credit cards have a rule about having to keep the balance transfer for a certain amount of time? Its a virgin money credit card with the current balance on. Sorry if that's a bit confusing. Thank you!!

Not meaning this in a sarcastic way, but have you read the new card’s T&C for transfer? You usually pay a transfer fee (% of balance) even when the resulting balance is then 0%. So for a relatively low balance like £1K, you might be better off paying the first card interest rate whilst really hammering repayment.

I’m the future OP it’s worth getting two cards.
One for balance transfer only.

One for spending on.

I’m not sure what you should do,I guess you could get another for the 1k amount?

I have got another card that I plan on transferring it all over and then cutting it up and not using it. I'm just wondering if there'd be a problem with doing another balance transfer so soon after transferring it across to my current card. And yes I know I should have read the t&c more clearly.

I have got quite a few big expenses coming up so I can't hammer repayment for the next few months.

You can do it as soon as you like in my experience.

Great, thank you @Triotriotrio Smile
