Universal credit while on maternity leave?

Hi!
I’m due to go off on maternity leave in May, I get 6 weeks 90%, 20 weeks half pay and SMP for the rest.
Just wondering if I would be entitled to universal credit or any type of benefits when I’m on maternity?
My partner has recently been made redundant so we are relying on my wage atm to pay our mortgage and bills etc. but this will be nowhere near enough to cover our bills when I go down to half pay.
Hopefully he will have found employment by May but if not would we be entitled to anything?

Have a look on here it'll give you an idea

You can claim. Have a look at policy in practice benefit calculator. Easier than entitled to. You might even be entitled now.

Does your partner qualify for this?

You won't get help towards your mortgage but most likely universal credit once baby is born. You'll also get Child benefit. All depends on what your salary is.
Do a benefits calculator with hypothetical incomes to get an idea.

As others have said, it's very likely you'll be entitled to some Uc once your baby is born as you will get a child element and a work allowance which means that the first £553 of earnings/ mat pay will be disregarded before deductions are taken from your total Uc amount.
As above if your husband has paid NI contributions over the past 2-3 years then he may be eligible to claim New style JSA now. However if he is still claiming this when you make a UC claim, this would be deducted in full from any UC.

Thanks everyone 😊 I’ve never received benefits before so don’t have a clue about any of it!
