What's your income and what's your mortgage/rent

I'm just curious to know what peoples monthly household income is and how much their mortgage/rent is?

The reason for me asking is because I am moving house soon and our mortgage will be going up by quite a lot but our household income has also increased. Although we've done all our sums and the bank are happy to lend us the money I am still feeling anxious so interested to see what other peoples monthly income and mortgage/rent is? And whether you find it manageable or struggle.

Mortgage £380 on a bog standard 3 bed semi , monthly income 7.5k after tax. Houses have shot up in price , inflation is a worry and rising rates . We aren't sure whether to stay here for a while see how it pans out while being very comfortable have wanted to move to a bigger pad for quite a while.

Take home £7000, mortgage £1100

@Lovinglife45

Those of you with mortgages under £1000 are fortunate. Did you buy in the 1990's or do you live outside of London?

My mortgage is £1400 for a small three bed terrace. Third bedroom as a box room, one WC. There is simply not enough space with growing dc, however we cannot afford to extend mortgage by £200k to £300k for a four bed. Sad

So true! Our take home is £4k and our mortgage is £1,400!

Income 1700 plus UC 500 approx. Child benefit of £140, and Scottish Child Payment of £80 so INCOME - £2120 approx.
Rent 650
Council Tax 215

What's left is to cover 4 of us plus pet.

There will be some huge differences between. My mortgage is about £260 a month and I earn a fair bit more than that.

At one point I was paying £90k a year interest only on my mortgage

Single income £4300pcm

mortgage £400

NeededAction · 18/05/2022 07:35

Single income of ~1000, mortgage is 400, so 40percent of my pay. It hasn’t felt too bad but with gas n leccy bill pushing to meet the ctax bill it’s a little tighter than it used to be!

NRRK28 · 19/05/2022 15:11

@Lovinglife45 my mortgage is £420 i bought house in london. I bought house in 2016 it was £420k. I overpaid over the years and got big downpayment in the first place. I think i only mortgage £110k

Errrrr feeling quite out of place here Grin

One income of £1400/mth and mortgage £330

I think you are normal , some of these astronomical salaries really inflate the national average

BMWqueen · 20/05/2022 20:56

Ejk1990 · 20/05/2022 21:00

Mortgage is £650.

ForcingSmiles · 20/05/2022 21:14

Current joint take home is around 3k,
Rent is £1200

We're in the process of buying which will then be £750 a month

HandScreen · 20/05/2022 21:17

Combined take-home is £7,400, mortgage is £2,450, which seems really high compared to everyone else's!

SpiderinaWingMirror · 20/05/2022 21:31

Ours was always one third of income, give or take.

169cliftonroad · 20/05/2022 21:33

Net income 9500, mortgage 700.
Feel poor as I have many friends in director/partner level ..
