Divorce at last!

Hello, need some help if possible...I've found a solicitor who is willing to give me my half hour free chat about a divorce but apparently he wants the details of my husband's debts even though they aren't directly linked to me. I've tried for literally hours to speak to someone at CAB had no luck so far. My husband says he's not comfortable sharing this information and doesn't see how it's relevant (also I'm not entirely sure he knows the details himself)
Anyone know if it's essential that he supply the details? I don't want to waste my valuable half hour not having the information I need....please help x

In the same way the starting point for assets is 50:50, debts are also 50:50. This will be why your solicitor will want a full picture of your joint financial position I.e all your and your husbands assets and debts.

He will have to disclose them during the divorce process, so he may as well do this now.
Not that it helps you right now, I appreciate. Good luck.

Thanks so much for responding to my query, but I'm in complete shock now. Does this mean that any debt he has got himself into since we separated, even though it's not in my name or linked to me at all is half my responsibility?!?! Oh dear, looks like I have a serious problem ☹️

You need a solicitor to answer what you are liable for. This is why he has to be transparent about assets and debts.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. Now I just need him to supply the details...which might be the tricky bit but I can show him this and hopefully he'll get on it

“Full and frank financial disclosure”
So not only the assets but also ALL of the debts.
