A few months ago we made the decision to do everything that we can to become debt free as quickly as possible. We started with around £25'000 of debt in September 2021 and have managed to get it down to £21'000 over the past few months which we are really pleased with. To help us achieve our goal quicker I would really like to discover other methods in which we can make extra income from home. Does anyone have any suggestions please? I have a passion for writing and have an interest in creating a monetised blog if anyone can help with that also? Many thanks

Sounds like an amazing plan and good luck in your journey!!

You need to decide what's important to you. A side hustle that is going to fulfil a passion, like writing, or something that's going to make you the most money for the least work!

If it's money here are my suggestions for side hustles:

Deliveroo / Uber eats / local take away
Sports coaching
Babysitting
Pub job one evening at the weekend

You could also look to maximise your main income - would moving job give you some extra cash?

Decluttering and selling on ebay, maybe.

If you cook well , cooking for dinner parties pays well. Blogs and YouTube channels can make big money but only if you have something people want to read/watch regularly

Thanks @D0lphine. I've always had a passion for writing so if I could make that my side hustle it would be super fulfilling but I have no idea how to make money from it at the moment. DH has quite a good job in sales - generous basic but regular opportunity to gain a good amount of commission if he meets certain targets so feels staying there gives him some good opportunities for earning more. I work earn around £390 p/week doing 25hours a week around school hours & I've struggled to find others jobs that pay more but work around our children. I don't want to find myself in a position where I have a higher paid job but I'm having to then pay childcare. You've offered some really good suggestions so il share them with my DH. Thank you x

Yes, I've been doing that alot recently which is why we have managed to pay quite a bit of money off our debt. Feel like ebays fees are extortionate now though so may have to look at other platforms. Thank you

Babysitting for other parents at school could fit in nicely with school hours and your own childcare.

If you or OH delivered take aways for a Friday or Saturday whilst the other minded the kids, that would be amazing- if you did that for a year it would make a massive dent in your debt.

This is totally doable OP, good luck!!!

for side hustle ideas take a look at the £10 a day thread here in money section of mn, lots of people making nice extras on the side for couple of hours work a day if that.

I’ve read about people who write mills and boon books. You could check out their website. No idea about pay though.
Well done on your progress - great start.

Following with interest. I've had a lot of success with depop and vinted for old clothes. I've made nearly 1k on there, but the only clothes I sold were all high end designer, the rest I donated to the charity shop. I have never had any luck with ebay, and the fees seem extortionate these days.
