Childcare changes and tax credits

Advice please!!

DS's nursery fees go up £3 a week as of January (he only does one session a week)

DD has started after school club one session a week = £6 a session.

Tax credits say they can't put the changes on because it is under £10

I get about 80% of the childcare costs back - I agreed to DD doing after school club (she begged to go) with the knowledge that I wouldn't be paying the full £6 a week (I want to get her into swimming lessons and won't be able to afford both if we don't get the tax credits help).

Is there seriously no way they can do this? They won't do the nursery update until January - have I got my facts straight that they will only take the £3 as the update, and not the full £20? The woman on the phone didn't seem to get what I was talking about with that question, and I am worrying about having to tell DD that after school club must stop.

My other ponderingment is whether to just sign her up for a second night to bump it over the £10 - even if I were only to get 50% back I would be paying the same as if I got nothing, and DD would stay happy. Would mean putting off swimming though which I think is important for her to do.

Urgh.

If anyone understood that and can shed some light I would be a very happy birdie.

I seem to recall they dont amend changes under £10 due to the admin involved.

However, not sure why tax credits would pay for after school club if you dont actually need it but your daughter just wants to go.

I am a working mother - I use very little childcare a week and it does help, but is not essential.
