Hello, I want to open a savings account for my newborn daughter where I can pay monthly into.

Does anyone have any good recommendations please?

Thanks in advance :)

I have Halifax regular savers for mine, which were the best at the time but that was a while ago

We also have a Halifax general saver for DS. Ultimately it depends what your priorities are for an account e.g.

  • Ability to open and/or transact online
  • Higher interest paid
  • Ability to make immediate withdrawals or not
Etc

There's lots of advice / comparisons on MSE which would give you a good idea.

I did Halifax kids saver and a natwest account for my son. Natwest for regular savings- he got a piggy bank and then Halifax for xmas and birthday money- easy to withdraw for stuff he wants or needs throughout the year

At the moment you won't be getting decent interest on any savings account, you might find some better than others but all will be pretty low.

Think about what you are savings for her for, and consider also for example:

  • pension contributions. Anyone can have contributions of upto £3,600pa (gross).
Tax relief/uplift from HMRC on monies going in Length of time to grow pot Unable to access until later middle age
  • JISA
Ability to invest in the markets. Could go up or down. In child's own name so they have access to the money at 18.

Thank you everyone, ideas to think about 😊 we're looking at a savings account, small amount paid into that she can access when 18. then one which we save into for potential bigger life events eg uni, wedding, house deposit etc x
