Hello, I posted off my pip claim which they received on the 30th November. I know it will be a long wait but does anyone know roughly how long it will take to hear back if I need a f2f or if it will be a phone call. Thanks x

Most assessments are phone calls at the moment due to covid and with the new varient I doubt that will change any time soon. I have found with clients it has been four of five months waiting for assessments but does depend on backlog in your area.

Mine took 1 year … got declined because the call handler said I sounded like a normal person, are they for real, so basically your decision is based on how you sound and talk… haha joke of a country x

I'm in Sussex and the wait here is 4-5 months generally, too, although I have one client whose form went in in early May and she still hasn't got an assessment date.

I am appointee for DD (17) - originally applied for PIP by phone late June but didn't receive the form for a several weeks (had to chase, issues with the appointee verification). Sent completed form late August and it was scanned on their system 8th September. I was told 18 weeks wait from scanning.

Checked bank today and found backdated payment. Haven't had letter or been called for assessment so was surprised.

If you get rejected it is worth appealing, sometimes these assessments aren't very good. They can make mistakes or assumptions

Sometimes, if you appeal they will look at it again and change their mind, even apologise. So, think of the appeals service as the real decision makers. Hope this is helpful.

Mine was 5 months. I never had any kind of assessment, just got a letter through awarding it to me.

That was my experience too, utterly shocking.

Hi, I had my phone assessment today. Is it normal it only lasted 37 mins and she didn’t ask me many questions? I didn’t send much evidence in either apart from patient summary from gp and listed my medications? Thanks x

Yes it can be fairly short if they have the medical evidence they need. Most of the PIP assessments I have sat in on/ supported people with have lasted about 45 minutes.
oviraptor21 · 09/03/2022 22:45

How good and detailed was the evidence you sent and the form?

My form was very detailed but the gp summary just had what I had been diagnosed with and what medications were prescribed x

@Mummyemx glad you got it in the end. I'm just starting the process. How long did it take all together

Mummyemx · 20/06/2023 10:00

@backtoworknextweek I applied in nov 2021, had phone call assessment March 2022, done a mr in April which was also declined. Then applied to tribunal in may. I had my tribunal hearing in jan 2023. I hope your pip claim is successful x
