We just sent back our PIP renewal form, via normal post but 6 days before the deadline. Just got a letter saying our pip has been stopped as our form was late. Anyone have any advice on what to do. Prob should have gone recorded delivery :(

Phone them and ask them. I have found them very helpful when I have needed to talk to them.

If it's a renewal it will stop anyway until it's been processed. 6 days is no time at all, it's taking weeks, if not months for renewals just now. I would phone them to check they have the form but not expect any payment for a while.

Batsan · 01/12/2021 08:00

Thanks, though they already said they didn't receive it in time and are stopping the payments, though 6 days should have plenty of time for it to get from Wales to Birmingham......

Maybe they didn't, but it's only 6 days. It would have stopped anyway. I would contact them to make sure it will be processed.

Benefits don’t stop while they’re assessing for renewal, that’s not true. I guess you didn’t get proof of posting OP? I agree you should ring them, did you photocopy the form? So you can re do it quickly?

Noeuf · 01/12/2021 08:11

Our new application was sent mid august and not registered until early September and still not had an outcome. Try calling them I found them quite helpful?

Of course it wouldn’t have been stopped until it’s processed ....that’s not how it works at all....if that’s what’s happened to your PIP get your MP on the case....appalling
Kitkat151 · 01/12/2021 08:16

OP you need to be sending the form back in good time....from when it arrives at the mail handling site it can take quite a while to be logged onto the system.....so you need to factor this in when returning forms

That's exactly how it works. If the award runs out and the renewal hasn't been done no payment will be made. If the renewal is then processed and an award given then a back payment will be made. The 6 day thing here is a bit of a red herring tbh, it would have made little difference. The priority now is to ensure the renewal will be processed, as it's been logged late.

They do if the award period runs out. That's true.

Have you proof of posting?

But reviews are typically made months before the award is due to run out. You made it sound like benefits always stop while the DWP process a review form, that’s not true and is misleading and could really worry someone.

No I did not. I replied specifically to OP saying it will stop anyway because the award only had 6 days left. A further post also mentioned the 6 days. Don't be making shit out of nothing. OP award was due to run out. Nothing I said was remotely misleading.

Batsan · 01/12/2021 12:42

Update: actually got in touch straight away with no wait time, they reinstated the award with no questions asked!

Brilliant OP, glad you’ve sorted it.

The OP says 6 days before the renewal form was due back. She doesn’t say anything about the award finishing. So wind your neck in!

Not sure what your issue is with me, or why you are being so rude, but the renewal form is usually due back no later than the last day of the current award.

You are wrong.....the renewal form is due back by the date DWP ask for it.....the award will often run for another 6 months plus after this.....this time is needed to then complete any further face to face or telephone assessment and then be passed on to the decision maker.

I have 4 on my desk right now that say otherwise.
