Small loans short term

Hi I'm wondering if anyone knows a place i can get a small loan literally for 2 days until I get paid. I've tried a couple payday loans but not working at the minute and have been rejected. I get paid on Friday of this week and need some cash to top up the electricity and gas to see us through to payday. I have tried calling my utility company but on hold for over 4 hours trying to speak to someone and now my mobile credit has run out. I would appreciate any advice anyone has. I'm not here to be judged for not having a job etc. I'm in a situation I really don't want to be in but it was outwith my control.

I'd recommend contacting Money Helper (formerly Money Advice Service) and asking for their advice. They may be able to point you towards organisations that can help:

They have both webchat and Whatsapp options if you have Internet but no phone credit.

Does your supplier offer emergency credit?
Have you family who can lend you money for a couple of days? Friends?

If you have a good relationship with your bank, this is what an overdraft is for, if you're not already in overdraft that is. The interest will be pretty much nothing for a few days and likely to be cheaper than payday loans.

You might be able to get one approved via online banking, rather than having to go in and talk to someone.

As with any borrowing, it's OK if it's short term and not done repeatedly, because that's when the interest charges will start spiralling and, as well as having the costs of interest taken out of your budget, you will have already spent some of next month's money so will be short before you start.

Or are there other things that you can not pay to free up money for utilities?

On the matter of mobile credit, you can get a service like Giffgaff from £5 a month, which gives unlimited calls and texts, plus some data, so you aren't faced with using up all your credit any time you have to make a phone call.
