Giving up work due to extreme anxiety ..

I currently work within a school, however my anxiety is crippling, I don't sleep properly, I feel sick every morning, spend all weekend anxious for the start of another week and then continuously clock watch and count down the days until the weekend again ... I feel inadequate and just unable.
My question is, has anyone ever given up work because of social anxiety? And if so ... how did you manage?
I'm married and we have a mortgage... I just feel I cannot continue living my life like this. But we need to have some income coming in. Confused I'm really struggling, and I don't think it'll get better even with a little time off - as it's been the save for the last 2+ years with no signs of improvement despite medication and therapy. I just can't handle it.

@harrow92
With anxiety everything seems complex and things that are seemingly low stress are high stress - such as colleague interactions etc.
please seek help - CBT will help you understand flight or flight, your nervous system, disjointed thinking (such as the black & white/ all or nothing thinking you are engaging in this thread) and it will teach you ways to cope with the stuff you need help with. Stop focusssing on anything work related and stop the failure talk. You have an anxiety issue not a work issue - it manifests in work but thats not the cause.
If you get a good therapist this is entirely curable even to the extent of working in places you think you would not be able to work in. My anxiety was all consuming, I could not work and thought I was in for a life of non achivement. I did so much self work, CBT, exposure and understanding anxiety and learned to cope. You need to do this to get better but quit the catastrophic thinking right now - thats the best, first thing you can do. This is fixable but only if you do the work.

Agree with others that you need support with your unhelpful thinking. Have you done CBT? You seem to be finding a barrier to a lot of the ideas offered.

I feel like I could have written this myself OP. Searched on here about workplace anxiety to try and find a cure to my own. How have you been getting on since this?
I hope you're doing ok.
