My df had invested in bonds, from the Woolwich, so a long time ago. He’d invested all his pension final salary lump sum into this after being told he was going to make a lot of money and was promised this and said he couldn’t lose in the investment. About half way through the investment he looked at his statement and he only had half his money. He removed it from the bond with penalties as it was severely effected and he didn’t want it to go to zero. This was in around 2000
So, last year I’d heard about people investing in bonds and losing out, so contacted Barclays (who took over the Woolwich) and they said ‘no, we see the investment, no can do’.
Cue to now, dm has received a letter from AVIVA with £500 odd cheque to arrive shortly in connection to do with df investment.
Why would they send this?
So far, I have said to db to not cash in the cheque for dm just yet as we need to investigate further.
Has anyone else been in this position before? I’m suspicious they’ve now sent this.
