Bank with high/no limit on online transfers

I bank with Halifax and have a limit of £25k a day on the amount I can transfer online per day. Over the last year it's been a real pain as we've had a number of occasions when we've wanted to transfer larger sums and had to go into a branch- as there isn't one nearby this means taking time off work. I've asked Halifax if they can increase the limit but apparently not.

I wondered if anyone knew a bank which offers current accounts with either no limit on online transfers or a higher limit?

Thanks.

I think you'll find most banks will have limits for online banking transfers due to money laundering regulations.

What sort of transactions are you doing so frequently that are for such high values? There are lots of ways to send money but most will require additional security checks/fees.

Business or personal? If it’s personal then you just need to bank where the rich people do - Coutts or HSBC Premier, even if they have online limits then you have a dedicated person as your bank manager & can do larger transactions by phone, o need to go into a branch. Barclays business only allows 50k per transaction but you can do more than one in a day - not sure if that applies to any of their personal accounts.

If you have that much money sloshing around, Coutts? Hmm

Google suggests Barclays do £50,000.00

Yorkshire building society let you transfer large amounts online but it takes 24 hours.

Thank you- I will have a look at Barclays and Coutts. It's personal rather than a business account. We've had a few things- being executor of an estate, property purchases and now a house refurbishment. It's not terribly frequently but enough to be a minor pain.

£50K limit with Natwest as well. I recently had to do a large transfer to HMRC to do with a will and had to go in to the branch to do it. And then go through a long security phone call to check that it wasn't a scam. ("Do you feel under pressure to make this payment?" Errr, yes!)

Coutts have high account charges I believe. Hoare's is another one, but probably similar.

On balance it is good for them to have robust security procedures.

Barclays let me transfer £50k a day online when I wanted to reinvest a fixed-rate bond but it involved a security phone call from them to make sure I wasn't being scammed before they let it go through. Didn't bother me (I believe they're liable if they can't prove they've pointed out what the risks are) but there was about a 2-hr delay before anyone contacted me. Would it be better just to find a bank that's more convenient for you to visit in person?

First Direct

So long as a bank supports CHAPS payments, there is no limit. That's what I used when I bought a house for cash.

Some investment options insist on online transfers only though - Atom Bank for one.

Starling Bank allows FP transfers of up to £250k through their app. Citibank will allow £250k by phone, £75k online.
Virgin Money allow up to £100k online. Santander will allow up to £100k by phone, £25k online.

First Direct and Barclays are max £50k.
