I had a thread previously and got some good advice so hoping you might be able to advise again.
We recently applied for a mortgage, only to discover I had a CCJ. Long story short, details were sent to an address I never lived at (a flat number that didn't exist until after I moved out and the building was converted) and in my old name. This all despite the debt being to my bank who have always had my up to date details.
I will obviously pay the debt but it will remain on my record for another year. The debt has been sold on to another company who have attempted to contact me on the details they were given, so they're not liable for any mistakes made. Ideally I'd like the record removed before next year, but unsure if that's a possibility?
Then, in a twist of affairs that you couldn't make up its been discovered that DH also has a CCJ. We've tracked this down as being related to our water bill, an account which is held in both of our names at an address we've lived at for the past nine years. We don't owe any money to the water company, and if we did surely they would pursue both of us rather than just DH? They've launched an investigation and I should hear by the end of the week. However we have lost the dream house we put an offer in on which almost certainly wouldn't have happened if DH didn't have a CCJ (initially the mortgage was in my name only, DH was added when my borrowing was decreased due to the CCJ)
If it turns out this has been applied for in error (which I firmly believe it will be), what do I ask of them?
