Working tax credit

My working tax credits that I have claimed for years has suddenly stopped without any explanation ! I'm still getting the child tax credit. I plan to call them tomorrow but does anyone know why this might be?

Have there been any changes? Or is your renewal finalised?

lollipoprainbow · 11/10/2021 17:27

No change only a pay rise of £20 a month hardly a lot !!

Have you completed your yearly update

worriedatthemoment · 11/10/2021 17:31

Have you checked if you still fall in bracket to qualify after pay rise ? Any overtime worked last year , bonus etc ?

Pterfanodon · 11/10/2021 17:32

Do you have an online account, or the HMRC app? You can look there to find out what's changed with your claim.

Needanewadventure2021 · 11/10/2021 17:34

If its your renewal updating I remember my wtc was completely removed whilst it was updating and returned overnight.

Alternatively does the small pay increase take you over any thresholds?

lollipoprainbow · 11/10/2021 17:40

I completed my update jn time, I can't see anywhere what the threshold is ! Does anyone know ?

OP posts:
Needanewadventure2021 · 11/10/2021 17:48

They don't make if known. I thought it was 26,000 but on another thread I was told they lost their wtc around 20,000

Needanewadventure2021 · 11/10/2021 17:52

I've just used the tax credits calculator and it seems at 18,000 you only get a tiny amount of wtc and from 19,000 you lose wtc altogether

lollipoprainbow · 11/10/2021 18:06

I'm not earning that much yet!! I'll call them tomorrow I'm really pissed off they've just stopped it !!

Needanewadventure2021 · 11/10/2021 18:14

Has it not been paid or just not showing on your app? If it's related to your renewal being finalised it normally shows as zero and updates overnight or a few days. Hopefully they can give you an answer

lollipoprainbow · 12/10/2021 17:53

I'm at the threshold at £16k apparently !! Absolute joke.

Possibly you have hit a trigger and moved to UC?

Babyroobs · 12/10/2021 18:18

@Reallyimeanreally2022

Possibly you have hit a trigger and moved to UC?
People don't get moved to Uc, they have to make a claim.
Needanewadventure2021 · 12/10/2021 19:48

Noway 16k is the threshold? That seems so low. Do you have children?

Needanewadventure2021 · 12/10/2021 19:50

I calculated mine yesterday and it seemed that around 18k you still get it. £16k is so low when you have children

lollipoprainbow · 12/10/2021 20:03

@Needanewadventure2021
Yes I agree and I'm a single mum too, she said that the entitlement calculators online don't match what you actually get! Great isn't it.

OP posts:
Needanewadventure2021 · 12/10/2021 20:07

@lollipoprainbow erm since when? Historically they always have been for me to within a few pounds.
Do you know how to calculate them?

Needanewadventure2021 · 12/10/2021 20:09

@lollipoprainbow I've PMd you x

Danikm151 · 14/10/2021 13:56

Sometimes working parents are better off being on UC. It's worth doing a benefits calculator to check.
The issue with WTC is the calculations are for the year so if there's an error they stop them outright but with UC the calculation is done each month.
