I was left some money when an aunt died. Its £2000. I want to use it for something substantial that will mean something but I dont know what.

We don't really do holidays.
I dont want to stick it in an account and save it because I have enough savings and it would just get lost if that makes sense.
Im not really into jewellery or bags etc.
If it sits in my account it will be frittered away.

So can anyone give me ideas please.

I'd stick it in premium bonds until you decide what to do with it.

Are you Life members of NT? That's a wonderful thing to buy and will give you many years of enjoyment plus memories of your relative. DH was given life membership for his 21st birthday- upgraded it to joint when we married - we are in our 60s now and hoping to get even more use out of it when we retire Grin.

I bought a piano as well and someone in the family has played it every day for the last 34 years. I often think of the lady whose gift made this possible, she was a childless librarian who took my dad under her wing when he got his first job in London,

If she loved her garden buy some trees. For your own garden if it is big enough or friends gardens or sponsor the planting of a tree/trees elsewhere. You can visit them and think of her and the good you are doing the planet

Something you’ll get long term pleasure from. A garden designer planting your boarders up? A nice framed painting? A beautiful solid oak table?

Maybe an activity? You mention pets - horse riding?? Or treat yourself to a years spa membership?

I inherited £1000 from a relative and spent it on a table and chairs set. I often think of my relative when I’m enjoying meals with my family.

@Reallyimeanreally2022

You have 3 children?

How come you don’t do holidays?

What about some wonderful day trips for them?

We have a lot of pets so its not easy to go anywhere overnight. I also suffer from agoraphobia and anxiety so don't tend to go out much. We have had a couple of good holidays and once things return to normal we might try again. They are also at an age where going anywhere with me isn't very cool lol.

Just bought a new sofa last year otherwise I would have.

I'm actually considering a ring. It's something that I will be able to keep and pass on. I'm not really a jewelry person (other than my septum piercing) but I think I could wear a ring
