Child tax credits/tax free childcare confused about entitlement

I'm a FTM with a partner working full time, partner part time.

I'm confused about which financial entitlements I could sign up to. The cost of childcare had worried me!

Is there a person who I could ask (for free).
Citizens advice? Job centre?

I'm worried about putting too much info onto the gov website without knowing how that can effect me/partner in future.

You can look on a benefit calculator - just Google for them I can only think of entitled to at the moment. It won't be tax credits though, so don't waste any time reading about those.

Entitledto is a good benefit calculator.

You will be entitled to tax free childcare unless you earn over 100k.

Tax credits don't exist for new claiments. So it will be universal credit with the childcare element if you are entitled to it.

There are no new claims for child tax credits, so you would need to claim Universal credit but whether you are eligible for any help will depend on your joint wages, whether you pay rent etc, number of children and their ages. 30 hours free childcare for over 3's may be more beneficial. It depends on your situation.

Thanks folks. Great news about tax free childcare!

I think it is this calculator that you want to use to see which scheme is better for you: www.gov.uk/childcare-calculator

You can only use tax free childcare if you both earn over the equivalent of 16 hours a week at min wage so it depends how much the part time worked earns. If you don't qualify for tax free childcare and earn too much for childcare help through UC then you don't get anything.
