Hi does anyone know if starting the above on PIP would trigger a 'change in circumstances' review? Thanks

PIP has nothing to do with working. People can claim PIP and work. The work you do should obviously not contradict the reasons why you claim PIP though or you would need to report a change. For example if you scored points on not being able to communicate with others but then get a job as a counsellor or interacting with the public every day you would need to report that you have improved. If you claim ESA then permitted work rules will apply and you need to let them know you are returning to work.

You can work on pip well you used to be able I get criteria change all the time you might need to check. I get ESA but with permitted work.

Mrsjayy · 01/10/2021 12:54

Well its permitted hours

Orangesandlemons77 · 01/10/2021 13:34

Thanks Flowers the thing is I read starting ANY work can count as a change of circumstances for PIP and trigger a reassessment (last now was a nightmare and needed to appeal at which point they overturned it but was still very stressful)

But the work with permitted work needs to be supervised / supported so could mention that I guess.

It feels stressful like anything can trigger a reassessment, but might be good to try doing this I suppose. I wondered if anyone had experience of this. (as in whether it does mean a whole new assessment etc)

What I mean is PIP is all about support / prompting / supervision which is involved in this permitted work...

That’s a fact sheet on Employment and Support Allowance; not PIP.

Do you get both?

Orangesandlemons77 · 01/10/2021 13:39

Do you get both?

Yes, in support group for ESA.

Does that work OK doing the permitted work and ESA, didn't trigger a reassessment there? Thanks Flowers

Yes I just had to say what I did or was planning to do and it was allowed I only do 8 hours at most though. I understand how stressful it all is Sad

OK so you put the form in then it got allowed before starting? Sorry just trying to understand how it works.

It says online about making sure it doesn't contradict the reasons claiming e.g. PIP....so for example if working as a receptionist while claiming difficulties with people face to face for example...

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 01/10/2021 18:19

Absolutely that I worked as a parent support worker but couldn't say I ran after toddlers which I wasn't able to do. So you could say I work on a reception desk but not face 2 face OR you could do F2F Supported, I know it's as clear as mud but you do need to be careful.

Mrsjayy · 01/10/2021 18:20

But supported*

Orangesandlemons77 · 01/10/2021 21:42

It's a minefield

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 01/10/2021 21:45

It is that, don't be put off though it is worth it for all sorts of reasons.

BackAwayFatty · 01/10/2021 21:54

For pip, you can work but as you say can't contradict your claim. If your circumstances had changed since being awarded, and this change allowed you to work then yes you should declare the change in health. If the ability to work is, for example, with adaptions to suit your health condition then all good cor reassessment. I worked when I was awarded pip mobility & still continue to work (diff role with reduced hours & WFM).

Not sure how ESA works but think there is 'permitted work'.

Babyroobs · 01/10/2021 22:10

You need to let ESA know that you are starting work and what type of work you are doing. they will then let you know if it's permitted.

Orangesandlemons77 · 01/10/2021 22:48

OK so hand in the form and then see what they say I guess. esa says about completing tasks...reason for support group. can't think of many jobs which don't involve tasks of some kind.

OP posts:
Wegobshite · 02/10/2021 14:43

The problem you will get with permitted work is that if it contradicts what you say you can or can’t do when you were assessed
So if you say you can’t sit in a chair for more than 30 mins because Of a back problem
But your a receptionist sat in a chair for 8 hours that would contradict your claim even if you had adjustments to do thus you would most likely be refused

Or if you said you had problems in places that are busy and noisy and if caused you to be anxious but you gog a job in a noisy train station 😂

Or you say you have problems concentrating on stuff and get brain fog and get confused but you want to do permitted work as a tutor marking essays

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/10/2021 18:18

Pip will have no idea if you work or not , nobody informs that Dwp department as it’s not an out of work benefit.

Orangesandlemons77 · 02/10/2021 20:37

Thanks for the replies. It just feels scary since my experience of PIP assessment trying to twist things and needing to appeal...I see how they use everything against you...

I've an appt with a place which helps with supported work placements will see what they say.

OP posts:
Starrrz · 05/02/2024 23:51

@MyDcAreMarvel so the dwp dont get hold of work places. So it has nothing to do with work x
