eBay

I sold a used ps5 on eBay. It was in immaculate working condition. The buyer has sent me a message saying the controller is broken - it definitely wasn't when it was sent, it was in perfect working condition and was used to re-set the machine. It's still under warranty and I gave him the receipt. How does this work on eBay? What should I do?

Unfortunately eBay always decide with the buyer in cases like this and you will be expected to accept a return and refund the buyer if that’s what they want

Oh really. I think the buyer has simply changed his mind. There is no way it was damaged when it was sent. I don't think I'll be selling anything valuable again.

I've completely given up on eBay because of situations like this. Tell them they need to return the whole thing

Realitea · 01/10/2021 08:14

Yes, asking them to return usually stops them trying it on. If it’s genuinely broken they’ll return it. A refund can’t be given until you have it back.

If you think the buyer is trying to scam you (they had a broken one and trying to replace it free of charge), ask them to return it to you and after you have checked your hidden security marks, you will issue a refund. EBay will nearly always side with the buyer but saying this might scare them off and you will never hear from them again. Alternatively could it have got damaged in the post?

fishnchops · 01/10/2021 17:32

Thank you. It definitely wouldn't have got damaged during delivery as it was really well packed & really was in 'as new' condition. I'd even offered to put in a claim to Royal Mail for a delayed delivery & refund it to them! So annoyed by the situation and definitely feel like they're trying to scam me. Thanks for the tip about the security mark. I certainly wouldn't sell on eBay again after this.

I don’t sell on eBay anymore too much hassle and too many fees.. don’t make anything on there
