Football club wants to pay someone £20 to clear up after an event. Would this be taxable? Is there a way we can give them some money without it being taxable - it's such a small amount.

Surely no one would do it if they are going to be taxed. Doesn't football club have any petty cash or something that £20 could be taken from?

I suppose it could be taxed in theory but is anyone from Inland Revenue really going to bother? (Just wondering, don't know.)

Presumably you are going to get a non-tax payer to do the job (either a student or retired person). Since the amount is way lower than the personal tax allowance I wouldn't bother with tax at all.

As lalalonglegs says, take the money out of petty cash and call is maintenance in the books

It is seriously not worth the Revenue even looking at this sort of thing unless you have at least 100 people getting £20 for picking up litter!

call it, not is
