NHS salary sacrifice car scheme

Just wondering if anyone has any positive/negative experience of this scheme?
I'm aware it will reduce my pension contributions, which whilst not ideal, I do have a reasonable civil service Pension to claim in 8yrs.
I'm in a Band 4 job, so not one of the high earners for tax purposes. Just wondering if there are any other pitfalls to look out for...

I'm considering doing this, if you take an electric vehicle there's a far smaller sacrifice as there's no taxable value, I'm using it as a way to try an EV without the pitfalls of owning one.

The only warning I can give is to look out for the end of lease damage charges - that is where the lease companies make their money. There are very strict guidelines about what damage is acceptable or not. It is worth checking these out before you commit.

Thanks both. I thinkany leasing company try to make money from damage/excess milage..
I have read that some people have been stung regarding tax at the end of the lease, but not sure if this is just for high earners...

Check that the payments don't take your salary below NMW. DP used to work in a bike shop and wasn't eligible for the bike to work scheme because of this.

I can imagine that the lease payments on an electric car are quite high even if you don't have to pay tax on the benefit.

There's an industry fair wear and tear standard that allows quite a bit of minor damage before you get charged at the end of a contract.
