Quickest way to make £6k

Hi!
DH and I are currently renting, and we want to buy our own house asap. Our letting agents are awful and the already extortionate rent is going up soon! We've saved up part of a deposit, but need another £6k to buy to cover fees etc.

Dh works full time, and I'm a full time (mature) student. I know that me getting a full time job is probably a pretty quick way to make up the shortfall, but I couldn't until at least January because of my uni work and the kids.

We don't have any family we can pack up and move in with to save rent, and we don't have £6k worth of stuff to sell!

So does anyone have any genius and magic ways I can make six grand in my spare time? Or is this wishful thinking?

Definitely advertise photography sessions - portraits / headshots etc via your FB friends etc.

Definitely don't invest or do matched betting...this is fine if you're already comfortable and/or looking for a longer term investment but way too risky for the situation you're in.

Photography to me seems like an ideal way to raise a few grand without hours and hours of toil. As someone else mentioned, you could do weddings and events. You could also try to sell your photos online...why not? Minimal effort and a way to get paid again and again for the same work.

One shift a week in hospitality would net you about £300 a month, plus tips, if you got a waitressing job in a nice/fancyish place. That could be nearly an extra couple of grand by January.

I was going to suggest a lodger, @IceLace100.

A friend charges her lodger £130pw, so in 4 months you'd have netted a couple of grand. And it's tax free.

Care homes are currently really short of staff. Weekend shifts where I live are paying £12ph, it was £9.50 a few months ago.

If you’re under 40 you could each open a LISA (Lifetime ISA) and invest £4K each. The government will top you up with £1k each. Not quite £6k, but a thought?

I think it is much easier to save money than it is to make it. Take a serious look at every payment you make and cut it to the bone. Make sure you are getting the best deal on everything and stop spending on anything that isn't absolutely essential. Use up all the foodstuff in your cupboards before buying more etc.
