Saving for kids?

Lucky enough to be able to save £100/month per child (toddler and baby atm), currently going into a fixed rate kids account (held by me). Feel like I should be putting it into stocks and shares but don’t know where to start. What do others do?

As I’ve said many times I put my grandchildren’s money into a Junior ISA with Vanguard. Fidelity, Youinvest etc

The fund is Vanguard All Cap Global index invested throughout the world

I save similar amounts, though only that much recently and mine are 14 and 12. I put half in their accounts they can access (they don't spend it all though) and half towards their child trust funds. These are with Forrester and track the stock market in a low risk way. Over the years they have sometimes gone down but overall been great and have increased way more than savings would have (so far!). I think the eldest currently has about 9k and the younger one about 6. This is with me putting in very minimal amounts for most of the time.

We have JISAs and I pick my own stocks for the kids. It depends what level of financial knowledge you have, how often you want to monitor the accounts, how much risk you are willing to take.
For JISAs., global equities are good as the money is tied in for a long period of time. You could choose technology stocks like Microsoft or Alphabet. Or if you want funds, vanguard Life Strategy or Fundsmith Equity are some examples. DYOR. Resources to help you - How to Own the World by Andrew Craig, Alpesh Patel blog/website/social media
