I getting really fed up with the (low) level of customer service offered by the HSBC. I'm put off moving because I assume that all banks are the same, but would anyone recommend a bank? One where I could ring up and speak to a human being?

Another for First Direct!
Been with them 21 years and never had an issue.
@6fingerkitkat Having just been through changing banks, it was far less of a faff than I anticipated. I'm wondering why I didn't do it earlier.
That's good to know. I will look into shifting away from HSBC.

I had a bad experience with them shifting accounts / closing accounts when I divorced. Very difficult time and they were not pleasant to deal with... put me off doing anything
@HundredMilesAnHour would you mind explaining why not Barclays? I'd be very interested to hear please!
Unfortunately I can't as it would be a confidentiality breach. All I can say is that my industry experience of them was sufficiently serious that I told those closest to me that they should close any Barclays accounts immediately. I've been in the industry for over 20 years and this is the only time/bank I've ever felt that this was necessary.

I've been with that bank for 24 years and would still recommend them.

Main account is with Natwest and have been for 30 years. Brilliant and easy to use app.

Second account with Monzo love the e tra functionality and round ups /buckets. A really easy way to save.

Always best to have 2 current accounts with different banking groups just in case on gets frozen or scammed

First Direct. Best customer service ever. I wish all companies were as easy to deal with.

Mine are brilliant starling and Monzo love them!!

Rayna37 · 20/08/2021 02:52

@LunaFortuna really easy. Only been with them 2-3 months and spoken to them 2-3 times but straight through no hassle each time.

silentpool · 20/08/2021 03:24

Nationwide are great if you want to talk to someone, as their call centres are in the UK. I also like Starling as their app is great.
