Blue Peter badges

Not sure where to post this one but we have just received our ds's Blue Peter badge. It's brilliant! We have a few camping trips planned during the summer and for each holiday, there are lots of places we can go where he'll get in for free. If you have two children 6+ they can both get in for free! All ds did was drew a picture and wrote a few sentences.

That's great but people have to be careful with this. I think the scheme was withdrawn a few years ago due to widespread abuse. People were making fake badges and selling them on ebay.

Did you get a card to go with it? Googling suggests that this is now the case:

@BarbaraofSeville we got the badge and then a card a few weeks later. It's a shame people have been taking advantage of it!

It's not closed.

You must have the ID card and the child must be accompanied by a full paying adult.

I’d double check the places you want to visit are still accepting them.

Digger land and another place said no discounts for blue Peter badges a couple of months ago due to Covid as they need to make money back .... so double check!

The scheme is brilliant.
When my dc had theirs years and years ago, I was amazed that they were valid until their 16th birthdays, without having to reapply year on year.

We're waiting for my sons card to arrive, hoping it will be as good as everyone says

We have two but didn't bother getting one for the third child as we'd only ever have two paying adults. The rules are different for each place (one badge child or two per paying adult), and as said above some places have stopped accepting them with Covid as the excuse. Sometimes they are only valid with the "on the gate" price, not the discounted advance price, which can make it practically worthless.

Where you are in the country makes a difference too, hardly anywhere near us accepts them. But we are using them for a zoo tomorrow, and a friend and I once had a brilliant day at Tower of London. We did the Southeastern two for one offer, and two blue Peter badges. We paid for one adult and one child, there were two adults and five children (youngest was free as under age).

So they can be good but definitely not as much a golden ticket as they used to be (Merlin parks used to be included).

My husband got one as a kid but I guess we can’t use it for our kids?

No you need a photo identification card for the child.
