I wrote on here not long ago about my husband emotionally abusing me while 8 month pregnant and about a week ago he decided to leave me. We are renting a 2 bed property both of our names are on the tenancy I'm trying to see if it can be changed in my name but I can't afford to pay for it as I only now get maternity pay and they need to check whether I will be able to pay before changing anything. I did a universal credit check and it came out with barely 100 a month in help which unfortunately won't cover anything. Is there anyone there that can help talking to citizen advice and council just confuses me more and I'm giving birth soon and I cannot be homeless with a newborn. I'm begging can anyone advice

Your ex will need to pay you child maintenance once your baby is here. It's about 16% of his gross pay and 20% of his net pay. Are there any cheaper one bed places available?

I would check on a different website for benefit eligibility.
When I was on maternity pay at £800 a month, renting at £500 per month with1 child I was getting around £5-600 in Universal credit. When maternity pay went down to statutory it was around 7-800. Then 21 a week child benefit but I’ve been putting that into savings for my son.
I used entitled to and turn2us to check.

Now i’m back at work I get £900 a month UC. £646 of that is for childcare and the £20 uplift but without those I would still be getting over £100 with a wage take home of £1500 a month.

It's probably worth seeing what kind of public and charity support is available for you on www.turn2us.org.uk

There's a benefit entitlement checker, a section under 'Your Situation' which includes 'Expecting A Child', a grant search and some contact options.

You need to make a Uc claim, tell them you are liable for the whole rent and that it is an untidy tenancy. Once your baby is born you will get extra money, extra rent element and the first £297 of your maternity pay ( assuming it is smp and not maternity allowance ) will be disregarded before earnings reduce your Uc. you should get a significant amount of Uc once your baby is born plus child maintenance and child benefit. Also once you are on UC you may be eleigible to claim the sure start maternity grant.
