Best budget app

Can anyone recommend a good app for managing your budget? I don't particularly need to save money but I would like to be more aware of where my money is going. I have a habit of online shopping both food and books, beauty products, candles etc and i often wonder where my money has gone. I feel like I'm frittering it thoughtlessly away. I think I buy because it's easy but I often don't need the things I buy. For example, I love books and read avidly but I'll buy 2 or 3 new books regularly when I already have a stack of reading material. I'd like to learn to wait until I have a couple left to read and then buy just 1 or 2. If anyone can recommend a really good app, I'd be grateful.

I've been looking at a Starling account for help with this same issue!

Why do you need an app for that? Just don't buy any books Confused. Or use the library. As well as normal libraries, we have Little Free Libraries in my city, where there's a box of books where you can just take a book and leave your old books. Or get kindle unlimited, or wait until the books you want are 99p and buy them then. Or look in charity shops Loads of ways to have unlimited books for virtually nothing.

But most bank accounts and credit cards allow you to download categorised transactions into a spreadsheet for analysis. You could do this today with your spending history.

I use YNAB. Have used it for years. Really useful

I am puzzled why people need a budgeting app as your bank statement covers everything.
We don’t do online banking but still get a monthly statement.

It's not about the books on their own. That was just an example.
