Fighting for divorce settlement after a number of years

Going through emotional and excruciatingly stressful process.

Had court order to say ex needed to pay me half the value of the former marital home on a certain date last month. He didn't.

Long time passed since we got divorced and he was financially and emotionally abusive (and still tries to be).

I desperately want the matter closed.

Engaged a solicitor, put family court forms in anyway as he has missed the deadline by over a month.

When I last asked him on the phone he said he had the 'mortgage deeds;

Not sure whether to believe this or not, court D50 K is proceeding anyway just in case.

I'm so down as it has taken one heck of a long time. Years.

Any thoughts?

If the courts are involved you'll get your money eventually, he can be forced to sell the house.

Yes, that's right, but it's really about managing the stress of this bit of it, as I really hope it doesn't come to that.

If he has the mortage deed, how far away is he in terms of time for getting they money? Anyone? I have no experience with this.

What's a mortgage deed?

beigebrownblue · 25/06/2021 11:41

I don' t know. I googled it but I don't know where the allocation of the mortgage deed comes in the process before the money arrives, I can't work it out.

Ex will draw it out as long as he can, despite having missed the court deadline last month.

I really, really want to close this door emotionally on having anything to do with him.

thanks for replies
