Struggling to make ends meet

I’m forever struggling to make ends meet!
Unfortunately I don’t work, had to leave my job, due to my eldest been on a reduced timetable at school (1.5 hours a day)
Due to this I’m relying on universal credit.
I’ve recently moved house, and found out I had a £400 debt from gas and electricity (my own fault)
I feel like it doesn’t matter how often I try to reduce my bills something else always crops up.
I don’t have savings, or anything of value to sell.
I don’t really know why I’m posting, just need to vent I guess!

Urgh I'm sorry OP. Being trapped in this cycle is exhausting. I'm not massively familiar with UC but I think you can work a bit without affecting it? Could you try registering as a babysitter somewhere to get some extra cash? Or considering child minding? So that you are still around for DC.

If your child is on a reduced timetable obviously there must be some underlying issues. Can you look into claiming DLA or carers allowance

Keepingitreal14 · 16/06/2021 20:13

With your child being on a reduced timetable and therefore much greater care needs then other children would he qualify for DLA?

Can family or friends help?

AbsolutelyPatsy · 17/06/2021 08:16

if you get in touch with gas and electricity they can perhaps agree a payment plan

Are you in debt crisis? Martin Lewis has some info on how to get help:
